Director of User Experience & Design  /  Sep 2022 – Present

​

Recruited directly by the CTO — a relationship built over five years at Maestro Health — to assess and restructure a fragmented UX organization across a portfolio of 8–10 acquired SaaS products, before being elevated to lead it.

​

The work was equal parts organizational design and creative leadership — building the systems, standards, and cross-functional partnerships that let a lean team of five run a well-organized, high-output design operation across a complex multi-product environment.

​

  • Authored the organization's first UX Design Guide — establishing the process discipline, documentation standards, and scope clarity the team needed to operate consistently and grow.

  • Designed and directed the Accelerate Design System (ADS) in Figma, then partnered with Front End engineering to scale it across 6 simultaneous Scrum teams as the production backbone of all product development.

  • Directed two full brand overhauls across the product suite, unifying the visual experience of a portfolio that had reflected the scattered identities of a dozen acquired companies.

  • Championed early AI adoption — including Figma AI and Lovable — partnering with Product to accelerate ideation and bring design-system-aligned prototypes to stakeholder conversations faster.

2015 – 2020 / Director of Experience Design
 

Recruited by referral to join a 30-person healthcare startup as its first and only UX voice — brought in to own the full delivery model from wireframe to boardroom.

​

Over five years, I built the UX department, the process model, and a suite of 12 healthcare applications — including ground-up product builds that replaced paper-based HR workflows with intuitive digital experiences in a regulated environment.

​

  • Sole UX leader across 8 public-facing and 4 internal applications for three years, before making a precise first hire to extend research and documentation capacity.

  • Built and documented the UX process model from scratch — the operating framework that scaled with the company as it grew from startup to full-scale health insurance platform.

  • Led ground-up design of custom applications working embedded with Dev, Front End, Product, and industry consultants — digitizing workflows that had never existed in software before.

2013 – 2015 / Primary Experience Design Lead
 

Rocket Web

I joined Rocket Web at the right time! This fast moving company was looking to increase the quality of experience they offered their clients. They asked me to come in and do what I love best: bridge the gap between the clients business/project goals with the best content, design and UX out there in order to get a product to the intended audience. I acted as UX Lead and primary designer for UX and visual design deliverables while also looking within to help brand the offerings Rocket Web had for the marketplace.

Support digital projects and client engagements by improvement of internal process and approach. Primarily work alongside User Experience Director on several projects with Abbott Labs as well as support the all departments as they work to launch the new 50,000feet website.

2012 – 2013 / Design Director

 

Siteworx Chicago was the first remote office to contain a director at all four pillars; sales, development, engagement and design. All four directors working together on strategy, pitches, sales meetings, SOW approval, level of effort sign off, forecasting project plans and resource allocations per role, per project.

  • Lead client discovery meetings, stakeholder interviews and full project alignment sessions

  • Management of the process for the design department, how each role within the three principles under my management (content strategy, experience architecture and design) communicated with each other, as well as the continued interaction between the development team, quality assurance and project management

  • Continued involvement throughout a client engagement directing the work being executed as well as representing design involvement through each client relationship 

  • Contribute in concept design; Grant Thornton, American College of Surgeons and DeVry University

2011 – 2012 / Assoc. Creative Director

​

Oversee internal LCG process for Creative Department. Consult on full company project management process and communication. Helping with communication through all departments internally so that our client deliverables continued to be amongst the leaders of our field.

​

  • Client facing representative for the creative department: discovery through concepts, layout design through handoff to development

  • Presentations of all creative through all cycles. Work in correlation with IA for improvement of UX. Support the development with creative QA of prototype sites

  • Oversee the LCG brand through the launch of a new agency site, as well as all marketing ventures from convention space design to social media campaigns

  • Represent LCG at IRWD 2011 as a Design/UX specialist offering two days of consultation to scheduled companies

2010 – 2011 / Senior Design Lead​

​

Integral part of the creative department as the agency was identified as the 2010 Magento Partner of the Year. Develop information architecture, user experience, design and implementation according to business objectives, ROI goals and eCommerce best practices.

​

  • Drive projects full circle – project initiation, creative discovery phase, present concepts and art direction

  • Creative representative during on-site project kick-off and new business pitches

  • Supervise design integration, production and QA in development

  • Represent Gorilla at the 2011 Internet Retailer Web Design Conference as a Design, UX and IA consultant
